Taxonomy & Aquaculture for Biodiversity Conservation and Livelihood

Principal Scientist & Head, Peninsular Aquatic Genetic Resources Centre, Kochi, Kerala

Dr. T.T. Ajith Kumar is the Principal Scientist and Head of the Peninsular Aquatic Genetic Resources (PAGR) Centre, Kochi, under the ICAR–National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources (NBFGR). With over 20 years of experience in marine biology and aquatic sciences, his expertise spans aquatic biodiversity conservation, marine taxonomy, ornamental fisheries, and sustainable aquaculture. He leads research initiatives focused on conserving aquatic genetic resources and developing aquaculture-based livelihood models for coastal and tribal communities. A recipient of several prestigious national and international awards, Dr. Ajith Kumar has published extensively in leading scientific journals and continues to contribute significantly to fisheries research, biodiversity conservation, and community-centered aquaculture development.
